Before you hit the road, here are a few tips to help make your journey a little easier.
First, schedule an appointment with your veterinarian to make sure your pet's vaccinations are up to date and he receives a clean bill of health. Be sure to keep a copy of medical records with you in case of any complications.
If you are flying, be sure to contact your airline company to find out their protocol on pet travel. Also, contact the hotel or campsite to check their pet policies and find out what fees and restrictions may apply.
Most importantly, make sure your pet is wearing a secure collar with current ID tags that include your cell phone number. It is a good idea to microchip your pet; should his collar come loose, animal recovery facilities can access your contact information with a quick scan. |
