Vaccinations for Cats
While there are a variety of vaccines that are recommended for both cats and dogs, there are a few vaccines that are specific for feline diseases which we recommend for most cats. At Carolina Cat Clinic, our veterinarians will be able to help you understand the various feline-specific diseases these vaccines protect against. We’ll make recommendations based on your cat’s age, breed, and lifestyle.
We often recommend vaccines for the following feline-specific diseases:
- Panleukopenia: Kittens aged four weeks or older should be vaccinated against this disease
- Calicivirus: We recommend two or three injections for kittens, starting at 8 weeks of age
- Rhinotracheitis: Kittens eight weeks or older can receive this vaccine, but will need boosters every 3-4 weeks until they are about 20 weeks old
- Feline leukemia virus: Kittens can receive this vaccine or adult cats, especially those who spend time outdoors
