Signs of Illness in Pets

If your pet should become ill, he or she may not exhibit the same obvious symptoms as a person. Some of the more common, sustained behavior changes and symptoms to watch out for are the following:

  • Hiding
  • Lethargy, or acting weak, tired, or excessively sleepy
  • Poor or lack of appetite or acting finicky with meals
  • Excessive or voracious appetite
  • Weight loss over a short period of time
  • Excessive thirst
  • Excessive urination
  • Inappropriate urination or defecation

Although there are many other ways a pet can exhibit illness, the symptoms listed above may be subtle and not always picked up on right away. If you notice any of the above, please call our office immediately so we can help you determine if they should be seen by one of our trusted veterinarians. If so, we will ensure they receive the first available appointment so we can exam your pet and properly diagnose the issue.

If you think your pet may be experiencing these or other changes in behavior, contact our office online or dial (704) 251-6692 to determine whether an examination is appropriate.
